200k and in need of a transmission(?)

so i just bought a 2003 ford ranger, with the 3.0 v6 and 2wd. its manual. single cab and red. its a southern car so no rust which is nice. its got 200k, needs an y pipe and i think a transmission. i was told someone put a clutch in but backwards, the transmission isnt even bolted on all the way and i think i am gonna rebuild the motor. im just gonna rip the motor and tranny out and go from there to rebuild it. the play in the shift lever is ungodly, and it clunks and shutters like there is no tomorrow. also needs drive shaft. i am just looking for some advice on things a should look out for, and maybe some help finding a cheap y pipe without cats or just a dirt cheap one? everything i find is for the 4.0. will that stuff fit with some force and cutting? any advice is appreciated
