3.0 to 4.0

right now i have a 3.0 is a 4.0 an almost direct change i like my 3.0 but im thinking of saving up for a 4.0 and droping it in also if i get a 4.0 it will be sohc so again what is all needed in doing an engine swap i have the tools just what is needed? thanks for all your help.

for your year truck i would go with a 302 or a 351W... more fun that way
but if you want a 4.0 you will need the wireing harnass ecu tranny ect... basically everything from your donar vehicle

how hard is it to get a 5.0 in the truck if i have everything my grandfather has a 302 bored to 347 just sitting in his garage collecting dust says i can have it for 250 just needs an intake. do i need to get a drivshaft made or an new tranny what is all needed for one of these swaps???

you will need a new tranny and drive shaft... what rear end do you have now... you will want the 8.8 rear for a 5.0... are you thinking carb or FI

You're going to want to do lotsa of research. There's actually a book made for engine swaps, hopefully someone else will chime in. go to www.therangerstation.com and search their forums because they have more older 5.0 guys. You're grandpa is sitting on a sweet engine.
