3.0 pcm??
3.0 pcm??
Hey, I need to get a new pcm for my truck and was wondering what I need to look for when trying to find a used one. My truck is a '99 3.0 4x4 automatic with manual locks, windows and mirrors if that helps any.
I appreciate the help.

I think it is bad because last summer I had an array of problems with it thowing codes. First it threw something with the cam positioning sensor, so I replaced that and everything else that relates to that particular code. Then it threw a misfire code...so I cleared that code, and within a day it threw it again, and the light has been on ever since. I just cleared it again last night and will see if it comes on next time I drive it again. Therefore, I lead these false codes to the computer.

is it flex fuel?
have you looked into the misfire code or just dismissed it and condemned the PCM?
it is very rare that PCM's fail.
and if it is bad and your truck has PATS then you can not just "bolt" a new one in. a trip to the dealer will be in order. and there gonna check it out, and tell you the computer is not bad, rather you have a bad fuel injector. if its flex fuel.

It is flex fuel, I havent checked the fuel injectors at all. Last summer I replaced plugs, wires, cam positioning sensor, and some other things I dont remember the name of. Its been to the dealer and had a diagnostic run on it and they told me that it was the cam pos. sensor that was bad and not the pcm, but after replacing the sensor it still throws the code. It seems like as soon as I fix one part,a code comes up about something different.
I personally didnt touch the CPS, that was installed by the dealer, and it was the entire assembly. The truck runs fine, but it just keeps throwing codes such as the misfire code, when I'm fairly certain that the engine is not misfiring.
I also agree, your PCM is not the problem........
