I am thinking 01 was the final year the 3.0 was available for supercab 4X4's.

Me personally...I would love to have the 4.0, but I am happy enough with my 3.0, it gets me where I need to go...not any slower than the 4.0 because due to insurance reasons I pretty much HAVE to go the speed limit. :D

I already have 4.10's. My truck is just naturally slow!

Wowak, I hear ya.. I wanted a regular cab above all else and settled for the 3.0 ... I don't know why Ford doesn't put the 4L in the regular cabs anymore ... I don't mind my 3L, it pushes my truck around just fine...

I was able to get a 4.0L in a regular cab in '02 but I had to get the auto. So I didn't get a regular cab cause autos are for girls.

Ford stopped making the 3.0 4x4 in mid 2001. Mine has the same problem as some of the others have stated about their 3.0 4x4's GUTLESS!!! that is why when I finally get relocated I am getting me a 4.0. So if someone wants to buy a 3.0 for a spare or a builder I will advertise then.

I don't like the fact that my truck is really slow, but I cannot complain a bit because I have yet to make a payment on it. My dad was nice enough to buy it and pay for pretty much everything so I am happy with it. The more I think about how slow it is the more I don't really mind it because it's not like I want to go out and race everyone I see anyways. When I get re-geared I'm sure I will be a happy camper for a while.

I love my 3.0, I have drived the 4.0 and yes more power, but some of us can't affor the insurance. For me I pay 220 a month now, if I got 4.0 it would be 250 just for the extra power...That is why i love my 3.0, I can afford it and it is still pretty quick!

Yeah, but one gets there quicker!

Still, you're right, in the end it doesn't matter. Ranger's are hardly sports cars..

everyone says there is some sort of cut off at 92. but when my ranger was stock i could hit 105 before the speed limiter cut in.

I dunno hoss, mine kicks in like an SOB right at 92-95 MPH on the speedo every damned time. I rarely hit it, but when I do it's pretty alarming.. ..The worst part is my speedo is a little off (~5% slow) according to my GPS, which means I'm not even going that fast!

Andrew
I hit 102 with mine when it was stock.

Now, with the tires and gears I'd be lucky to see 95.

DISCLAIMER: I don't condone speeding, especially in a lifted truck, so if you get hurt trying to hit 102, its not my fault.

Slighty cracked Euro Tails FS

I have absolutely no problem with my 3.0L. Been just lovely so far.

Hey speaking of the "rev-limiter"......does it seem like the engine "misses" or cuts out for a second?

Other day I ws late for my tee-time and had it pinned, close to about 140kms/hr, it seemed to have reached its limit, so to speak.

I assume that's it?

Anyone "disable" theirs, if that's even possible??

Ok, so my spelling's bad.....I've not heard much about "chips" or whatever you call them. Do they make THAT much difference??

Just wondering...
