tps ?

i am having problems with high idle and i narrowed it down to the tps. when hooked up it runs @ 1200 rpm and unhooked its around 750 where it should be. I am going to get it tested and replace if bad, but my real ? is can i run it unhooked until i can get to an auto parts store. Ohh am i am not throwing any cel"s

Don't run it unhooked and its probably not bad just out of adjustment. There are three wires coming off the tps ground, power, and signal. You can check the signal voltage and make sure that it is around .99 Volts at idle. If its out of adjustment and reading higher than 1 Volt it can cause the higher idle as you described.
