Icon5 3.0L 2 Valve Wiring Harness Option(s)

So far, I've determined that the engine I have is a 1999 model and I don't have the harnesses for it.

Since it is that vintage, it is a PATS system, which causes me big headaches so I need to change it to pre-PATS wiring config.

I've found a 95 Ranger ECU but I've not been able to find a 3.0l wiring harness (engine or engine bay).

I know that I must also change the CPS as the 99 engine has a sensor that isn't compatible with the pre-PATS computer.

I have found numerous Taurus 3.0 L 2-valve donor cars (95-98) and am wondering if their wiring harnesses will work, as I'm only trying to do engine and fuel management... No smog stuff, etc.

CAN ANYONE SHED SOME LITE ON THIS??? PLEASE!!

Welcome to the forum

Connectors won't match for injectors and sensors/controls from Taurus or Sable 3.0l, but you can try it, may be more of a headache than waiting for correct harness to show up.

Only "smog" stuff is the EGR Valve which you need on the 3.0l or it will ping/knock like crazy

Mazda B3000 is same as Ranger 3.0l for same model year

Look for "V8 swap" posts at Ranger forums, many swapped out 3.0ls for V8s, and they may still have 3.0l ECU and harness

You want to get ECU with its harness, manual trans or automatic matter, 2WD or 4WD not so much.
PATS is not that bad if you can get an original PATS Key with the ECU

Cam sensor(2 wire or 3 wire) does need to match ECU but just a minor issue
