3.0L Afe Intake fitment

hi new here. I have a 2000 Ford Ranger 3.0. I was thinking about buying the afe stage 2 intake but it says it’s only for 05-08 3.0L Rangers. Does anyone know why I can’t use the intake on my truck? Thank you.

(Intake in picture. Not my truck)

Why do you want to go from the very good factory cold air intake, to a very poor system that gets the hot air under the hood ?

I know what it does but I just felt like getting it for the sound and appearance. I have an AEM Dryflow panel filter in my truck already
