3.0L Cam and Crank Sensors
3.0L Cam and Crank Sensors
My Haynes manual, (which I dont really trust) implies that a 2005 3.0L engine won't have a Cam sensor unless it is a "California" version of truck with manual transmission.
This seems odd to me, how can the computer know when to fire the plugs based on crankshaft position alone? It stands to reason that the position of the cam shaft is needed as well.
So my question: Does my truck have a cam sensor or not? (An additional question would be: If not, how can the plugs be fired properly without knowledge of cam shaft position, that is, are they firing the plugs at TDC every rotation of the engine?)
