I have a 1995 ranger splash 3.0liter 4x4 auto with the stepside bed...will a 2wd tranny out of a 96 or 98 ranger work in my 4x4 if I have a transfer case? I'm a girl so please bear with my wording/terminology ok.

 

I'm not sure with your specific year but usually the output shafts are shorter on the 4x4 transmissions, so no a 2wd model would not work. The output shafts can be changed but unfortunately this requires completely disassembling the transmission.
