So notice a slight shimmyvibration and I noticed the bushing on front stabilizers are not the same. I think the left one was replaced at some time. They are rubber but the right one has this metal cup or cone over the bushing. I would like to replace both with the same type and cinch them down tight. Ideas on type and source? Also how does one replace the front half of bushing without major moving about of front axle. The rear part looks easy but getting front half off not so easy. Any positive input appreciated.
Hi, the right side bushing has a heat shield (metal cover) to protect the bushing from the heat of the nearby exhaust pipe in the 3.0L Vulcan engine at least. before tearing the radius arm apart you should inspect the rubber bushings for cracks or noticeable deterioration, and also try to pry both radius arms with a bar and look for play or excessive looseness, they should be tight.
vibration could be almost anything, for a accurate diagnostics more testings is involved, like if the vibration is speed related, it feels on the cab or steering wheel, there is any noise?, is not engine related (vibrating in park) or when braking etc....
Ankle, thanks for input. Rotated tires shimmy still there. And I noticed the grease looked really old, almost sticky. In my records I see the “left rotor” was replaced about 60,000 miles ago. I am thinking now to pull left rotor, inspect and either clean or replace bearings. Sound good?
