So I have a 3.0 v6 2000 ford ranger, I just did a top end rebuild on my engine, and I now have water shooting out from around the thermostat, it it not the thermostat that the water is coming from, where could it come from? it only shoots out when I either, start the truck, or fill up my radiator, everything below the thermostat is holding coolant, but anything above that it shoots coolant out, here are some pictures that may help, honestly I am puzzled, I am going to pull off the upper intake later and see if I cannot locate the leak (I know a bolt is missing on the upper intake I did that just now)
Water pump is the only part that can "shoot out water" when first started, other places would just drip leak
Check both heater hoses at the engine end, they are the water pump by pass so can leak like a water pump does
I don't mean to be rude, and I know you have a lot more knowledge on this then I do, but it's leaking from above the water pump, I also exaggerated a bit with the "shooting out"due to getting annoyed with my truck, it almost looks as if coolant is coming from the hose that connects from the two fuel rails, as I fill up the radiator and it starts to leak the smell of gas gets more and more. also It leaks when the truck is not started, and it leaks a lot and fast.
I figured it out, I stupidly cross threaded a bolt from the upper intake, that hit the lower intake that holds coolant and it made a small and deep enough hole where coolant seeps out
