Anybody tried the Roller Rockers by Morana lately
I know there were some problems at first with these production inconsistencies etc. I'm wondering how happy people are with these and if there is anything I should know in general. Are these a bolt on? I remember my Small block chev heads required guide plates and milling the stud bases etc. Is it my understanding that none of this is needed? I assume the 3.0 ranger engine (mine being an 2008 auto 4x4 short bed) uses hydraulic lifters so setting the to zero lash at top dead center is pretty much the deal? Or do you just need to bolt em in and go? Thanks Bob
The rockers are simply torqued to spec, no lash adjusting as with old style lifters.
Can't comment on the quality of the roller rockers, but unless you put a high lift cam in, using roller rockers is not really necessary.
The factory stamped type are just fine.

I agree the factory type are fine. The truck is a little anemic though and there are few ez mods that can be made. I would rather have less wear on the guides too. I hope to have the truck for a long time and the roller tip is an advantage was hoping for a little more power with the 1.7 rockers. I have an 08 4x4 3.0 short box auto. Looking at the factory power spcs. the 2003-04 model also produced 154 hp where as my model did 148 hp. While reading on line it looks like in 08 there was a push to improve mileage in the 4x4's as they also lowered the trucks for better mileage and handling often cam changes are at the root of those hp changes and it seems that maybe some of that could be gained with the use of the rockers.
