ok so i got an 88.2" gatorback belt and the one that came on my truck when i first got it was alost an 88.2".... but now as hard as i try i cant get it on... i have the tensioner maxed out but it wont slip under the idler pulley...


also is this the right size then? im guessing that it cant be to good if the tensioners completely maxed out when all the pulleys are together? or am i mistaken?

 

ok i thought i figured it out but i didnt so any help would be nice....

 

try slipping the belt on in a different way, like onto a different pulley, if you know what I mean.. I think that's what I did when I changed to a gatorback. good luck..

 

use the alt pulley to slip it on/off. That's what I use. Also make sure the tensioner is turned all the way. Sometimes you think it is but the wrench is hitting something.

 

all my pulleys have a groove on the outside so theyre really hard to get over those but ill try tom...

 

right, what these guys said, the alternator should be easiest one to get it on. 882 is the correct lenght for your truck

 

well no dice.... thats one tight sob and i had the tensioner down the whole way with no interferance so i dunno....

 

Is it possible you put it on wrong.. check the diagram carefully.

 

nope 100% positive its on right becuase if reinstalled my old one twice in the same way....

 

that's wierd. One thing you can do is take the alt off. It's only 3 bolts (14mm). It can be tilted down when the 3 bolts are off. You'll probably need to take the intake tube off also for access. This is about a 10 minute deal to do.

 

yea ive taken the intake off and everything and no luck.... can anyone verify that my belt is supposed to be an 88.2?

 

I am getting 89.1 inches for your model/year. That's a sizeable difference. I'm not sure where Jusnes or you got your data from.
