Blew the head gasket

Truck is in the shop right now and their saying that its hydrolocked and water is coming out of my #3 cylinder. Their quoting me around 1700 to 2000 dollars to do the work. Does this sound reasonable to anyone?

I honestly wouldn't even bother with the engine that is in there if it has a lot of miles. If the engine has to come out might as well shove a reman engine back in.

I'm sure you can get a new crate engine for around that price.

Hes saying that i lost all pressure in my engine and i got a leak coming through the timing chain cover. He want to replace both head gaskets and hes saying hes gonna send the head to a machine shop. I called around and got a quote for 650 at another place but they havnt even seen the truck. I just might take it there. And as far as a new engine, he was saying he "recomends" some blah blah engine, 5 to 6 grand installed.

The guy that has it is raping you. Take it else where. Another member hydrolocked his 3.0 and he paid maybe $1800 for a reman engine with warranty and installation.

Well its up to you what you want to do. You can spend the money to have it torn apart and fixed but then everything else is still old.
