So if that small cut on the a/c line that goes to the accumulator could it be the reason why my fan barely blows any air??
and another thing is when I turn on my fan/heat to any setting only defroster works and about 5% of the time heat/cool air will come through then vents on rare occasions anyone know why I’ve checked the vacuum lines, reservoir and blend door along with other things could the cut in the low pressure side of the ac line affect that or??
No.... if that was leaking R134 there would be oil stain on it.... flush heater core see if its blocked... check the small vac hose from engine bay bottom of heater box
No, the AC system has no effect on air flow in the cab system
Vents, floor/panel/defrost, are vacuum controlled in all years, Defrost is the default/no vacuum position of all vent doors, so if air only comes out Defrost then there is no vacuum at cab controller.
Vacuum comes from intake manifold but is stored in the Vacuum Reservoir.
Most years have a Black plastic vacuum line that runs from Reservoir to firewall on passenger side, then a fitting there, in the firewall, and another vacuum hose inside to the Vent Control
The black plastic line in engine bay is often melted by exhaust manifold/pipe temps, so check it carefully
The Blend Door was cable operated thru 1994, in 1995 and up Rangers it was changed to use an electric motor
The blend door controls the TEMP only, not air flow volume or direction thru vents
The Blend door covers the heater core, as it opens it allows some air to flow thru the core the rest flows around the Blend door, if heater core is hot then air is warmed up a bit, if you turn temp to HOT then all air is routed thru the heater core, so Blend Door does what is sounds like, it "blends" cold and warm air to desired temp
If the Blend door broke off it hinges, it could block the main air passage, but you would of course lose any temp control after engine was at operating temp.
Fan blower pulls in Outside Air unless MAX AC is selected, there is a vacuum operated door that closes off outside air vent when MAX AC is selected, so AC system isn't trying cool down outside air, Fan would instead be pulling in already cooled Cab air that would get even cooler, so "MAX AC"
(Just FYI this is all MAX AC does in any vehicle, closes outside air vent, no AC system has 2 speeds, low and high, lol.)
The outside air vent is under the cowl in front of windshield, and it can get clogged up, hard to get to but you can see inside from the slat openings.
If you want to test if outside air vent is clogged up, select MAX AC, assuming vacuum system is fixed, the air flow will go up dramatically since fan now has full access to air from cab vent
