code p1309 help
Hey everyone, i recently had to put a motor in my 98 ranger 3.0. The original block was bad so i switched everything on the bad ranger block to a tarus block. I think i read here that the Tarus camshaft was every so slightly different but would not make a difference, well hopefully its not causing this problem??? But code p1309 comes on but the truck seems to run fine, no misfire no nothing!!! I put a brand new cam syncro assembly in it when putting the engine in. Pretty sure i adjusted it right to. I just cant seem to figure this out and i need to get it inspected. id like to be able to fix it myself being since iam low on cash right now bc of the holiday. Dont want to pay a dealership to fix it. Any help would be great or if you guys could point me in the right direction! Thank you!

p1309 is misfire detection monitor.
does the engine misfire? can you feel that it shakes more than i should?
did you recently run out of fuel?
did they replace the spark plugs and wires?
were your fuel injectors used from your old motor?
was the cam position sensor replaced?
most likely it is the CMP check and make sure it is connected, it is in the rear of the motor behond the intake closer to the passenger side, it looks like the bottom of a distributor with no cap and rotor on it. if it is, have someone clear the codes, disconnect the battery, turn the headlight switch to on, and then to off, and leave it sit about 15 mins then reconnect. See if it comes back on as the same code

Never ran out of fuel. The spark plugs and wires are brand new. I used the injectors from the tarus engine but i checked the resistance, all in spec. I also put in a new cmp and the assembly that slides into the block and oil pump and lined it up with the tool. I cleared the code with a scan tool about 3 times today so far and disconected the battery. i was thinking i was a tooth or two off with the cmp assembly on the camshaft but i double check it and adjusted it to haynes manual spec. ignition coil is good to! i cant figure this out
