well i went to start my 06' ranger today and when i turned the key all the dash lights went crazy as did the rest of the electrical system. i thought it was the battery, but the batt has a full charge. we even tried a new optima batt but no go. tried a jump box but it just made a loud clack clack clak sound from the starter like it had a low batt. all the wiring is good as far as i can tell. anyone else run across this? i had to take it in to the dealer....... which i hate to do, but i'm stumped and have on ride to get a new starter and relay. it runs fine when roll started with the clutch. oh and i found out the warranty expired 3 DAYS ago!!! and the truck only has 20,000 miles on it.

 

while someone is in the cab turrning the key, whack the starter with a hammer a few times. if it starts when you whack it, replace the starter. if not, check your solenoid and all its connections. then check your connections on the starter.

 

bad ground?

when I installed my neons i forgot to tighten down one ground screw and everything was crazy, one headlight was on high the other was barely on, if i turned the windshield wipers on the rpm needle would jump, it was nuts. the truck would drive but it wasn't pretty
