Defroster...?

Hello again..Have another question if I may: My 91' 3.0 has factory a/c but unfortunately, it doesn't work at the moment..I know when needing to defrost your windshield, you would normally include the a/c to defrost it..So, what about the Rangers that don't have a/c..?..How do they defrost the windows as I may have to use this approach since mine doesn't work..When I engage defrost now, it just doesn't do the job. Especial the side windows....I've tried searching down the vacuum and making sure they were connected since the defrost works from vacuum, I think......Thanks...

Defrost doesn't need AC, AC just makes it quicker because it dries the air before it is blown onto the inside of the windshield

The Evaporator(aptly named) is how the AC cools the air, its in the heater box, when AC is working the Evaporator is cooler than the air temp, so like a cold glass of beer on a warm day water from the air collects on it, and drips out of the firewall drain tube

Without this the air is not as dry in the cab so it takes awhile for the air to absorb the water vapor on the cold glass.

If its snowy or raining outside then when you get in your clothes bring in ALOT of moisture, this makes things even worse, lol.

Google: Car dehumidifier

These suck the moisture out of the air(like AC will)24/7, so you will have less water vapor to start with

To answer your question, there is no difference in the factory HVAC system with or without AC option
When there is no AC you get what you got now
Back in the day when AC was rare you carried clothes/rags to wipe down the windows

Yes, if you live in a wet climate keeping the inside of a vehicle at lower humidity really helps when temps drop

Warm air can hold more moisture than cold air, the air in the cab stays warmer
The cold window glass is the same as that cold glass of beer, when the warmer air in the cab touches the cold glass it cools down and leaves moisture it can no longer hold because it cooled off

The warmed air, from passing thru the heater core, can hold more moisture and that's why defrost works in the first place, but the drier the air is in the cab to start with the more moisture it can absorb, which is why AC really helps
Then as the glass heats up the cab air touching it doesn't get colder so doesn't leave behind water

Hold your breath, ha-ha.
I have AC but unsure if it's working (new to me truck). I use a propane torch and heat the air around the foot areas. I also crack the 2 windows open 1/2" to let out this warm moist air.
It does speed up the drying time but is it worth it vs the cost of propane? Patience is free.
