Electrical gremlins

Hello, I'm new here and I ha e tried researching through older threads but can't find a solution.I bought a pretty decent 1998 3.0 ranger off a guy and it does run well but he was no professional when it came to wiring aftermarket components. He deleated the stock fan clutch and shroud and spliced in a electric fan. He used the small red power wire from the battery cable and used it with a manual switch to power the fan.I have since converted the system back to stock but i want to know where the red wire originaly was supposed to go. Im having big battery drain issues
Its the little red wire coming off positive battery terminal
