Engine cranks but no start

a 2001 ranger 4x4 3.0. I just swapped motors in it with a used motor. Came from a salvage yard and was told it ran when pulled (I don't know that for sure though) with 174000 miles on it. My problem is when I first fired it up and started right up with no problems and ran for about 2 minutes then the idle dropped way low and it started getting jerking and finally died. Now it won't start back up at all and I'm not getting any codes from the computer so I don't really know where to start. I pulled the fuel line and it's getting fuel but not sure of the pressure since my tester dont have a connector for the fitting on the fuel rail. The fuel pump was fine before the swap though so I have no reason to think it's that. I sprayed starting fluid in the throttle body and just got what I would describe as a back fire out of it but it didn't run. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum

Crank engine over a few times and watch the CEL(check engine light), it should turn OFF when starter motor is turning engine over, that means the Computer is seeing a pulse from the crank sensor, a timing pulse for spark and fuel injectors
If no CEL at all with key on, then check fuse 7 in engine bay fuse box
If CEL turns off, pull out 1 spark plug
Its tip should be WET with gasoline, that means engine should have started but no spark to ignite it

Any fuel pressure even low would allow engine to fire up, it would just die after start up with low fuel pressure
And if you added fuel manually and engine didn't fire up then you don't have spark, or don't have it at the right time, so check coil pack plug in
If you have a volt meter test red/green wire at coil pack for 12volts key on, if not check fuse 19 in cab fuse box

When you redo wiring you can get shorts that blow fuses

What the status of the CAM sensor?
2001 3.0l needs the 2 wire model, and engine may not start if its not plugged in or working
