i have a 2002 ranger and recently its been cutting out when i get on the gas in second to get on the freeway...it cuts in and out about 3 times then its fine but the whole truck gets jurking from losing power and its a pain to get on the freeway because it kills my speed! any help would be appreciated!

 

Any luck? I seem to be having a similar issue.

 

This sounds similar to my issue, which from my searches points to camshaft position sensor (it stutters while cruising at highway speed). Their are several other possibilities though. I would check spark plugs (copper OE replacements are like 2.37 each) and MAF sensor first (clean/spray it out with MAF Sensor cleaner ONLY and let it fully dry before reinstalling it). You can also check your air filter while you've got the air box open, these are cheap as well so if your not sure of the condition it wouldn't hurt to replace it.

Any Luck? Mine is doing pretty much the same. Except it'll do it in any gear if my rpms get up above 3000.
