new clutch ideas

last one only lasted 2 years. i think pulling my boat that weighs about 4500 pounds killed it. looking for one that has more holding capacity than stock but not too much. will be full clutch kit, with slave, throwout, flywheel, bearing...

looking at a spec stage 1 and a lux right now not sure if lux is anybetter than stock as far as holding power. essentially looking for a clutch that will hold about 25% or so more than stock. anymore and i think i might stall truck. i know i should just get a bigger truck. had a dodge ram but due to economy at the house i sold it.

i only tow the boat exactly one mile to the boat ramp. pulling it out clutch smokes some. also should i get a lighter flywheel or keep that stock?

thanks guys

just realized in wrong part of the forum.

Anyways went with Lux clutch kit from clutchcityonline.com new fly wheel also. could have gone 70 bucks cheaper with rockauto but with my clutch only lasting two years i decided to get in my mind a better brand. although the other may have been Lux just rebranded as brute power. also i emailed clutchcityonline asking between spec stage 1 or the lux clutch kit and they said go with the lux. also the response was very prompt. so at best a better product than brute power and a mix of other parts since not complete kit or at worse paid extra 70 for good customer service. either way i have a long weekend coming up soon.

Is it Luk or Lux... anyways I think you went with a better clutch. When I had mine replaced I went with a Luk and liked it.

Sounds like if your going to be towing as much as you have been I would build the clutch as strong as possible.

Oops. Luk
the towing is warm weather mainly except for an occasional itch to dive the cold water looking for lost goods.

Any chance your truck is a 4wd? if so pulling it out in low would help your clutch life a lot.
