Engine trouble... High idle still! :(

I have searched and read most if not all the threads about the "high idle" issues others have had. BUT....
I have checked many many times for vacuum leaks... NONE.
I put in a new fuel filter.
I cleaned everything from the air filter to the throttle plate.
I cleaned the MAF with MAF sensor cleaner.
I replaced the IAC valve.
I've tested the TPS with a volt meter and seems fine.
I replaced the driver side O2 sensor cause one wire was hanging by a single strand of wire and the others were almost cut off too. (idk how that happened. lol).
I replaced the DPFE, and EGR valve. (to get rid of EGR codes).
I just put new plugs and wires on.
No change but all three spark plugs on the driver side were worn down, burned up. (idk what to call it). And the wires that go to the right front and right middle (the longest wires) were burned up a bit from the EGR tube.
Here is a pic of them in order as if standing in front of the truck looking at the engine.

I don't know what caused this nor do I know what else to do about the idle.
I just rolled over 140k miles and these spark plugs were put in somewhere between 60K and 80K miles.
I have a P0133 and a P0171 code coming up.

I don't have much money although I've spent plenty on the new parts anyway. But I'd really like to fix this myself.

Any advice at all would be helpful. Thanks a lot.

what did you gap your new plugs at? And what kind of NEW plugs did you put in? I've heard that some trucks are REALLY finiky (sp?) about gap and type of plugs. I was told my our local ford tech here in Temple (don't know if it's true or not) but our ranger's with a 3.0 do require an iridium plug. Which when I got new plugs I did get motorcraft iridium's and haven't had any problems. That would be something to look at...also after you changed all this and put it all back together, did you disconnect your batter for 20 min, and then re-connect it. Let it idle for 10min and then go do your normal driving, for you computer to "re-learn" that might be part of the problem too...just throwin stuff out there that happened to my 3.0

All gaps are at .44... I put in Autolite Platinum's... I never had the idle problem until very recently.
I doubt that the plugs are the issue but do you have any idea as to why they wore different on the one side of the engine?
I had a friend that is a mechanic and he reset the codes with his code reader.

Thanks for your input RangerNVS! about time someone did! lol jk!

Disconnect the battery cables, then touch them to each other for like 30 seconds or leave one disconnected for an hour or two and it will clear the ecu. Try that and see if it fixes it. When I changed my TPS my idle got all crazy on me and thats what fixed it.

Actually I just got done disconnecting the battery, turned on the headlights for a few minutes, then hooked it back up.
My cousin came over to see if he could help.
Drove it around a few miles and so far no codes came up but the idle is still wacked.
I'm done for tonight but I will be driving it around more tomorrow and I'm betting that the codes will come up again. lol
korey89 thanks for the input a little late but at least you're trying to help! lol

Could the distributor cause the plugs on one side of the engine to burn out?
Thanks again.

Update....
I guess I was wrong about the codes^^^ They never came back on.
The idle is still high when rolling but slow down when I'm stopped.

Check this elbow and see if it's torn or flattening out with the truck on.

https://www.ranger-forums.com/forum2...des-p0401.html

I need to replace mine. It sucks flat and *I think* it's whats making my truck idle high after start up and when going slow.

...and GO BIG RED!!

Don't know if the 3.0 has the same elbow as the 4.0? Just notcied you had the 3.0.

seed60... I have the 3.0L so I don't have that exact hose.
I have actually read that thread too! I've checked all my hoses and haven't found any holes.

Do you watch the Husker games?

Every chance I get. Tommie Frazier got me hooked when I was like 10.

Got to watch them play Wake Forest a couple years ago. It was awesome!!

I hope they continue the series with VT so I can get to some more games. Memorial Stadium's just sooo far away. lol

Ok so now the CEL has stayed off but i still get the high idle.
Someone said it could be the intake gasket... Could it be leaking and cause the high idle?
How hard would this be to replace?
My mileage from my last tank of gas really sucked... 11 mpg when usually i never go lower than 14 mpg.

Thanks for any help!

Intake gasket is easy to fix... just unbolt the six bolts on the intake manifold after you take off all ther accessories. The gasket is right there.
