I have recently noticed when I start my truck the fan motor is spinning so fast it sounds like a garbage truck coming down our road. Is that normal or is that a sign something needs to be replaced or fixed?

That's normal for a trashtruck. Once the fluid in the fan clutch warms up a bit it will slip some and the fan won't roar. Fix your heads before you worry about that.

Depending on outside temp the fan clutch will have a Cold Lock when you first start a cold engine, so fan should move alot of air for about 5 to 10 seconds, then it should quiet down

If its not quieting down then its broken and fully locked all the time, need to change it

To fix the fan issue, is it the fan clutch or something else? I would do the heads and fan issue all at once. Then the fan would be out of my way and give me more room to work to get to the heads.
Thanks Ron, ill leave it alone for now
