Ford 3.0v6 Throttle body swap
Ford 3.0v6 Throttle body swap
has anyone on here with the 3.0 swapped out there throttle body for a 56mm or a 60mm?
it looks like the throtle body from a 3.8l v6 mustang works? anyone confirm this?

The 3.0 Duratec Tb out of an Escape works. Bolts up with minor modification. There is a how-to somewhere. If I can find it I'll post the link. It is 60mm btw. IIRC our 3.0 is 52mm.
In my experience the Escape throttle body costs more than its Mazda counterpart. I picked up a Tribune (or Tribute I can't remember) for like $35. I may install it one day if I stop being lazy.
EDIT: This should help http://www.cardomain.com/ride/333436...lar-cab/page-4

i have a 99 before the composite manifolds.
i know i read about the 3.0 duratecs do work and that the 56mm bbk tb also works.
why i ask about the mustang is becuase the model number for the 56mm bbk for the mustang is the same for a ford ranger so im wondering if the stock mustang one will fit. they look alot alike.
i did look for some escape/tribute tb on ebay but they look wayy different from mine-they have hose connections to them.

60 mm Throttle Body Swap
I (understandably) only see old threads regarding this subject.
Can anyone direct me to a How-To on doing the Duratec 3.0L throttle body swap?
First, is there a part number that identifies the Duratec Throttle body? Any identifying features that distinguish it?
Any fitment issues? If I have the right one, it does look like it bolts right up.
Just for the fun of it, I’m working with a tuner to see what combination of things we can do to bring the torque curve down into lower, more useable rpm range. Hope to gain a few HP but torque is what I’m really after.
I have access to a dyno so I’m going to track the changes with the output, as well as track my cost along the way.
I will produce a report at the end of it all so we can put numbers behind any changes.
Thanks for any help/guidance you can give,
Kirk

Thanks, but no this didn't help.
I'm not changing the intake or using a Taurus TB.
Previous threads on this forum showed you could use an Escape TB from a 3.0L Duratec without any additional modifications.
This swap goes from the 50mm stock TB to the 60mm Duratec TB.
For what I plan, 60mm TB is more than enough.
Thanks,
Kirk

No worries! Thank you for your response!
You know us motor-heads.....I'll take all the information I can get!
From reading the thread you sent, the difficulties they ran into with communication errors, is exactly what I was trying to avoid.
Supposedly, the 3.0L Duratec TB plugs right in and has no issues communicating with the stock Ranger control systems.
Mostly, I was looking for any reference to making that swap and identifying a Duratec TB.
The references posted on the old threads have expired and no longer useable.
Thanks again for your response,
Kirk

Hi,
Did you ever find the how-to for the Duratec 3.0 swap?
Please look at my previous posts and let me know if you can help at all.
I don't want to purchase this one if it's not a Duratec, but I don't want to miss out on it either if it is what I'm looking for.
Thanks,
Kirk
