Fuel pressure

What should fuel pressure be. In searching for the answer I find different answers. I have a 2002 3.0 and only getting 28psi. I have codes p0171 and p0174. No vacuum leaks found and maf tested good. Fuel filter replaced and still @28psi KOEO and running.

how many miles? does it run ok?

For a Ford Ranger 3.0, the typical fuel pressure range is 55 psi +/- 8 psi. This means the fuel pressure should ideally be between 47 and 63 psi. A pressure drop with the ignition on suggests potential issues with the fuel pressure regulator or the fuel pump's check valve.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
  • Normal Range: 47-63 psi (55 +/- 8 psi).
  • Key-on, Engine Off: The pressure should build to this range and then stabilize.
  • Engine Running (Idle): The pressure may drop slightly from the key-on pressure, but it should remain within the acceptable range.
  • Potential Issues: A pressure drop below 20 psi, or a pressure spike followed by a drop, could indicate a faulty fuel pressure regulator or a problem with the fuel pump's check valve

If I order the fuel pump & housing assembly from rock auto does it have the regulator and check valve as part of it? Looks like I need fg0873.

mine is passenger side fuel rail right in front. theres a vacume line to it. pull the line off. if it smells like gas it needs to be replaced.
