fuel pump wont turn on
fuel pump wont turn on
my ranger will not run at all its a 2004 ford ranger edge with 110k miles all my fueses and relays are good and i have spark i bought a new fuel pump connected it with the connector(didnt put it in the fuel tank) and that wont even come on what is the problem?
Defeating any safety device is not a good idea.
Why not try resetting the Inertia Switch??? It's free and takes just a few seconds. There is a reset button and the procedure is in the owners manual if you need more info.

I would definitely get a new inertia switch soon as that is to cut off the fuel pump in case of a hard hit or rollover.
I second the 'buy a new inertia switch' motion. Odds of rolling over are super rare HOWEVER, odds of rolling over and gasoline spilling and igniting on spark/motor are relatively high in event of that type of crash. Fire kills 100% of the time so....id buy a new one....
"it was all melted" to me indicates a problem elsewhere. No wires or switches just "melt" just because. The fuses are supposed to blow first. So now if it happens again, instead of your switch melting or going bad etc, the wiring is going to. Possibly the whole circuit.
I'd replace that switch.
I'd replace that switch.
