Getting aggrevated help plese.

Hi everyone im a experinced body guy but im lost on the mechanical side of things.Any way my 1994 b 4000 started loseing power a week or too ago while driving on the highway ,when I nailed the gas it would come back some what I had to drive like this for another 20 miles or so .When I stoped at the toll I noticed a burning smell comeing from the center console .The next day the truck ran fine untill I drove it on the highway again over 65 mph .The check engin light came on and it threw a egr code .I replaced the egr valve witch btw had a blown diaphram and the truck ran fine again till I drove it on the highway ,this time I lost the burning smell but still lost power unless I was nailing the gas.

What else could it b ?

Thanks
frank

Perhaps misfire, thus dumping gas through the exhaust. This would cause the cats to heat up to extreme temperatures making the burning smell. Happened in a little car I had, melted the plastic handle off of the e-brake.

Happened to my truck minus the burning smell. But that was just because I was almost out of gass and a bunch of trash that was in the tank clogged the filter.
