headers

hey guys, i was on craigslist the other day and a guy is selling headers for a 3.0.

theyre used. is it ok to use used ones on a different motor? and I'm pretty sure theyre the stainless steel without any coating. so is 350$ good?

also, since its like 11 and I dont wanna go outside does my 03 3.0 have an EGR?

Why are you getting headers? For performance?

You won't see any noticeable gains from headers. Not worth the money or the amount of effort to put them in, IMO. Unless you do a ton of other engine upgrades. Well, maybe not a ton....

Here's a short list, it will get done over time...

roller rockers
escape throttle body
port intake/heads
21lb injectors
tune
and then its headers?

I'm mainly asking because I'm gunna see if I can get a killer deal on them... but so far it looks like its not even that great of a deal...

I dont think a different motor will make a difference and with those upgrades headers will probably benefit you quite a bit.

21lb injectors is overkill. You could probably stay stock, but if you really feel the need to upgrade why not grab the 19lb'ers off of a stock 5.0L?

I can lend you my 95lb'ers if you need em? hehe..

If you are tuning for maximum power you will more than likely lean out some and use less fuel unless you raise VE substantially requiring more fuel requirements.

there are some new stainless headers on ebay for $99+. Someone on another forum ordered a set. I think a lot of guys are waiting on a review from him before they pounce on them.

Icon7 Headers

You can buy brand new JBA headers today for the 3.0 w/o the EGR for $398 with free shipping. Thats not a good deal its just the retail price at AutoAnything.com. The only benefit with JBA'S is their CARB approved for California emissions. I hope to get mine in a few months

Just put my JBA's on this past weekend. They fit great and came with all the hardware and gaskets.
This is not a hard mod. There is only one bolt on the drivers side[bottom center] that is a pita.
IMO it's worth the effort.I mean look at the difference.

no. all the headers are made based on re-using the stock y-pipes.

JBA had some older models for older 3.0's that included the y-pipe. they were a lot more expensive, but it is irrelevant cause they quit producing them about a year ago.

ah ok, I didn't know as we have cats in it. We have like 5 of them....so could end up costing a lot to get headers lol.
