Heater Core

Hi guys,
Its been a while since joined. Changed out radiator over summer on my sons 2000 3.0 here in hot Phx, AZ. Everything went well. Now I feel a hint of cooling and its time to visit changing out bypassed heater core. How difficult is it? do I need to rip out whole dash , disconnect airbag, etc or just take out glove compartment? Any help would be appreciated, thx

whole dash has to come out. two bolts on the driver side, one behind the fuse box cover, one below the dash under the kick panel. one bolt on the passenger side, lower behind kick panel. three bolts under defrost panel along windshield. one bolt holding steering column linkages together. one small bolt holding the dash to a brace on the top of trans tunnel. three bolts holding wiring harness together, accessible from under the hood, under the brake booster/fuse box. unclip the shifter cable if applicable. dash should pretty much fall out. you may be able to get away without unhooking the wiring and the steering column, and just swinging the dash assembly over on the seat, and working around it. i pulled a dash at the jy a few weeks ago. had it out and on the seat in 15 minutes.

Thanks for response. It sounds like more than I want to get into right now. I think my son can get by with a plug in 12v heater.
