Heater Core died

Heater Core died

Hey guys my heater core crapped out yesterday, now i smell coolant and my windows fog up everytime i drive my truck......i am hesitant about replacing it myself bc it is such a job but i got a price from a mechanic of $800! does that sound about right to do the job? thanks guys

Sounds high. Its not the easiest job, the dash usually has to be pulled to do it. I have done it before without removing the dash but it was a pain. There isn't anything particularly complicated about the job at all, its just very labor intensive.

thats highway robery about a 2 hour job but its not too bad ive done 3 and the more i do the easer it gets.

I have the same problem as of about 3 days ago. I have the thing set to go tomorrow. Any advice on replacing the core? Any tips or tricks you can add to help me out with the project?
