Help

Hello all, great place lots of good info and help. I have a serious problem with my 02 Ranger Edge 3.0 V-6 U engine 2WD Auto. About 2 weeks ago she started to ping and loose power when I try to accelerate on to the Highway, and It just keeps getting worse the first time it happened the CEL started to flash and then stayed on, took it to Advance Auto and they said that the drivers side bank was indicating a missfire on 3 cylinders, I reset the computer and the code has not returned. I have installed new Autolite Double Plat plugs, Motorcraft Wires, Pvc and Pvc Elbow (was collapsed) new Coil, New Fuel Filter, Seafoamed it twice, (minimal smoke & cleaned plugs after) tapped on Cats to check for rattles, cleaned MAF and Throttle Body, reset computer after all service. now the idle is rough, it pings badly, has no power after 40 MPH, I am stumped and I am limited on funds, anything I missed or any other suggestions?
thanks in advance.
Tim

I finally fixed the problem, the forward Cats were clogged, and replacement fixed the problem. It has lots of power and good mileage , about 20 MPG. I do still have an issue, it has a missfire at idle that feels like a hard miss especially when the AC or Heater is on and it will stumble a litte after sitting overnight or for a few hours. It is not throwing any codes, it just has this hard miss, and I need to figure this out as I do not want to take a chance of damaging my new Cats. Could this be a vacuum leak or maybe a bad injector?. Any thoughts? Thanks all

My '99 has that same little miss when the A/C is on, or the truck has been sitting for a little while. Only does it when the A/C is on thought. I'm also thinking it's a vacuum leak somewhere. I've checked everywhere, but can't find one.

I'll go with leaking injector. After shutting off the engine , the fuel line is still pressurized. An injector leak is dripping raw fuel into the manifold. It's not completely burning off and clogging the cat.

Ok, so your saying that what probably caused my problem in the first place may have been a bad injector that toasted my cats, and now the symptoms I am having is most likely a leaking injector? how do I locate and fix it?

The best thing to do would be to pull out the injectors, number each as it's removed by cylinder #, take to a shop and have them cleaned.
Also while they're out , lay some rags (lots of 'em) under the fuel rail and turn the key on for a couple seconds. This will flush any deposits out of the fuel rail.
Another thing to check ASAP is the cam syncronizer.Rear of engine, passengers side. They are known to fail at the worst possible times and without much warning.
Do a search on these forums for cam syncro and you'll see.

Thanks, I did replace my Cam Syncro about 8 months ago with a factory unit, so I think that it's probably ok, I did however replace my Fuel Pump, Regulator etc assembly about 2 months ago, but I must admit I did not flush the fuel lines after replacement. So the best corse of action would be to remove the injectors? so running some Seafoam with the Gas will not give me the results of cleaning the injectors, if I remove them what does it typically cost to have them cleaned?

This probably doesn't apply to you but is something i've dealt with for some time.
I have a '93 dodge ram w/360 v8. It sits parked for 2/3 of the year.Has ~67K on it.
2 to 3 times per year I have to remove the injectors , using a can of carb cleaner ,stick the nozzle extension into the inlet side of the injector and spray the bejesus out of it.
Why ?
Moisture. The fuel lines got water in them from condensation in the tank. The water sits in there long enough to rust the inside of the fuel line. The rust particles then plug the injectors. Not chunks but a fine sand-like composition.
This would plug some injectors and not let others close completely.
The real kicker is NO CODES ARE SET that would indicate a plugged injector.
No solvent in the world that you run through the tank will get it all out.

Hey, my problem is now becoming more frequent, especially when I turn on my AC or Heater, anyone have the same or similar issue?

i think i heard a mechanic say thay can hook it up to a machine that emits smoke into the lines and whereever the leak is, it will start smoking out of the leak hole...

Hers is an another problem I have encountered, after changing my oil this past weekend, after running some seafoam through my crankcase, when I started my truck up Monday AM to go to work, it was running very bad and Black Smoth and what looked like small peices of carbon were comimg out of my tailpipe, and after several startups, it appeared to clear up and is running ok. WTF?

Ok, anybody have any suggestions as to my hard Miss especially when the AC is on. I ran some Chevro Cleaner a couple weeks ago, and it seemed to help some, but now it's back. Do I have bad injectors or burnt exhaust Valves or what. Thanks in advance
