help please!!!!!
1994 ford ranger 3.0 idles good but when u give it gas it falls flat on its face and boggs way down... changed plugs, wires, distributor, rotory button, new pcv valve and cleaned MAF sensor.. any ideas need help the miss is really bad?
thanks for the reply i just traded for truck 2 days ago its got after market exhuast but i never look to see if it still has catalyc on it ill check it and get bac to you... also there a smell when you get on it like gas thats not been burned like its flooding...
ok ill check it in the morning and get back to you and also i know all the other stuff was actually done because i did the work myself no use to going to an over priced garage just to leave with same part you already had.. know what i mean thanks again
the bad fuel smell says 1 of too things. the air coming in isnt being measured correctly. OR the air content of the exhaust isnt being measured properly.
MY TRUCK smells like 100% fuel when youre behind it at a light. My MAF doesnt measure the air right and my EGR is shot. both of these can be replaces relatively easy
I replaced both and fuel smell cut in half if not more.

Is the CEL on, and if not, has it been verified that it works as evidenced by it being on with the key on, and engine not running?
Also,
So which is it, falls in it's face when you give it the gas or is it missing? Or both?

update
update there is not catalyc on it they must took them off when exhaust was put on put on new fuel filter no change at this point i cant put no more parts on unless i have good reason that its the right one... and no its not missing its bogging that was a type o... ps the cel light is not on which makes no sense to me...
It could be burnt out or problem doesnt have to be electronic so ECU wont recognize it.
IN THEORY: with new exhaust system and no cats the CEL WILL come on for a fact. Previous owner either removed bulb/let it burn out, or canceled the CEL function all together so it may not work.

yeah i figured it was unhooked cause i know on other trucks iv owned the check CEL stayed on after cats were hacked... ok i did a little trouble shooting today found what i beleave to be the problem its a sensor that bolted over throttle if i unhook it runs great plug it up crap anyone know what its called?? is it throttle positioning sensor?
is it atop your throttle body? if so its your IAC idle air control...
they usually gum up and the spring doesnt alow the internals to move and ergo you get a wack idle rpm and bad low rpm mileage. clean it up or get a new one. clean the ***** outta mine and its nice to be sitting at 800 rpms again

I had your exact some problem on my old 94 with a 4.0, fell flat on it's face beginning when it was slightly warmed up and was MOL undriveable; instead of guessing what it might be, throwing parts and money at it blindly and wasting time I didn't have to waste I got right to the point. I pulled the DTC's and used the diagnostic flow charts on an Alldata CD I have, the same charts that Ford and other experienced professionals use in their service bays. Took about half an hour to diagnosis it, not counting a parts run and wait for the part. The solution to the problem was far from what I would have ever guessed.
thanks everyone for your help it was the IAC i cleaned crap out of it and it runs tons better still has a little miss tho not shore but its 100% better after cleaning.. and the check engine light lights up when key is turned over but goes right off as soon as started so i guess its not blowed. dont make sense y it dont stay on cause cats have been hacked...
