How close can a modded 3.0 get to a stock 4.0?

I would think a bolted up non s/c 3.0 would be around 150HP. A stock 4.0 would be 180-190 stock. These are rear wheel numbers, the only way to measure.
A 3.0 in a single cab would be a decent platform if trying to run against a 4.0 since they will undoubtebly be an extended cab. There's one in town that could take me. Underdog Pulleys, K&N intake, Rogue x-cal II, and Rogue Roller Rockers, and explorer axle with limited slip. Its strong.

Doug from bama-chips was running a BUILT vulcan with a whipple. He was sponsored and had access to some NICE goodies. Don't quote me, but I think his BEST pass was at the v6fc at Milon Speedway ( Michigan ) and he just broke a 14 second pass ( high 13's ) . He had a reg cab truck on slicks at that ( 3200lbs ).
I think for what it would cost to build a 3.0 to take massive boost, you could do better elsewhere ( If your good with wrenches and have the time ) .

I raced my friends 00 ext cab 4.0 and it was pretty much even the whole race... I got intake exhaust efan 3.0 in a single cab auto 00 model...
Hp to weight ... every 100 pounds is 10 horspower.. That extra seat .. 4wd ,bigger tires, wheels, and added weight of bigger engine makes a big difference..

I'm giving rear wheel horsepower numbers. You are quoting engine (crank) HP. There is a 10-15% loss of power through the transmission and drivetrain.
There's no way to get crank HP numbers after a mod unless you want to pull the engine out.

At the wheels the 3.0 has ~125-130hp vs ~180 on the 4.0
so if yo supercharged it (along with all the other goodies that go with that: Tune, intake exhaust) headers you would beat a STOCK 4.0. But all the 4.0 owner has to do is throw on an intake exhaust and he'll be right there with you =(
