Rent a ball joint press from a local parts store and remove the c clip and press it out

use the same press you just reverse the cups to put it back in also i know you have a budget but if the lowers are bad id do the uppers to to save from having to align it twice. When i did mine i did it because i could tell the lowers were shot but once i got in there the uppers were actually worse.

At my work, Advance auto parts. We have 2 different kits to rent, one is 120 and one is like 160 just depends which one you needed. Once you return it all the money is returned too you. Im sure prices are similar at other places as well. As stated above you can remove and reinstal the ball joint with that kit.

I only use the kit to install the new ball joint. a couple of swings with a 4lb steel deadblow will get the old one right out. saves time as well.
