UDP's and a programmer are good mods. you can also look at changing gears that would be the best bang for the buck.

Underdrive pulley set, Efan, Tuner, and definalty gears if your going with bigger tires. Gears should be first.

Honestly biggest gains will be forced induction. If you want real power you need to swap in a 5.0, the swap it self isn't that hard.

The flowmaster isnt helping in the power dept. either.. i'd try a borla/magnaflow/gibson. But yes, under-drive pulley is great, an e-fan will free up a little power, tuner.. the list goes on lol

yea i know, my bro in law has owned about 15 stangs and im pretty mechanically inclined, but my luck i have an 01 and i really dont feel like dealing withthe pats. or else i would just build a sick 5.0 and drop it in. and i have a manual so thats almost impossible to find a explorer 5.0 with muanual tranny.

You can also swap to a automatic transmission. But for just bolt on mods I would

Volant, under drive pulleys, magnaflow, and a tuner.

Yeah D. told me and some others that when he ran the flowmaster he lost a lot of torque i think.. But by adding a magnaflow he gained some.. Dont they make a supercharger for the 3 oh ?

Whipple used to make one. The only way you can get one now is if someone takes theres off and sells it

yea. not to mention i dont trust my 3.0 with that much constant strain. def not an engine that could withstanda supercharger for too long. some problems you owuld have with a turbo.. looks like im looking at headers pullys and possibly tuner.. anyone truly think the 400 for a tuner is worth it?

I think that the 400 bucks is worth it... you can do a lot with it, you can monitor temps and such with the software theres so pretty cool stuff there.

as others have said Id go with a good sealed intake cause judging by your 35's you like to mud so get a box intake to keep all that mess out, UDP, gears... if you really want a kick run a small shot of nitrous.. these 3.0s are pretty much bullet proof in stock form if you know its limits... also Ive heard a lot of good stuff about updating to an escape throttle body... you can also port out the manifolds, roller rockers.... thats bout all I can think of at the moment... you are only limited by how much money you want to put in and your imagination

What do I need and where do I find info on this swap. I have a 04 2wheel drive auto. Would love a 5,0

2004 Ranger was first year of the full digital system, HEC(dash), SJB, and PCM, alphabet soup, lol

So 2004-2011 are not good candidates for any engine size swap, you will be swapping out all the cab wiring as well as all the engine wiring
But look around I am sure people have done it

I can sell you a 1993 with a lot of rust. it would be a better candidate for a 5.0. a lot less wiring and computer modules to mess with

Go to “The Vulcan” YouTube channel, he does all sorts of really cheap mods to 3.0s using other ford engine parts, I did a 2000 Taurus intake manifold and 1999 mustang 3.8 v6 throttle body (60mm vs the old manifolds 50mm) I’ve only done these two things and mine spins the tires when I shift 2 to 3

lets see a video of this as proof. i have doubts anything short of a cam/boost is going to make a vulcan spin the tires.

Splash3.0 also has 2 other threads going because he can't get his engine to run correctly and it's throwing all kinds of codes after doing this mod to his engine.

I can second this, this Vulcan guy made it look easy, like he dropped it in and boom, more power. But I’ve been going through sensor after sensor problems.
