If it sounds like a pen clicking on and off then that is your injectors.

Place the tip of a long screwdriver on the body of the fuel injector while the vehicle is running and then place your ear against the handle. Injectors should have a healthy, consistent tick, like a heart beat.

Hearing the ticking without a screwdriver, in the cab.. is not healthy.

I can hear my injectors as well and have heard them on other 3.0's so I think it's pretty normal. Mine started around 40,000 miles. I'm almost to 80 so....

I am north of 127,000 miles and there is no audible injector click in the cab or under the hood.

I can hear mine when I'm accelerating next to a curb and slightly underhood. It was always like that since I got the truck in 05 with 35K miles.

Mine's the same. I first noticed it while accelerating on an expressway with the windows down right next to a 10' cement wall. I can get out the the truck and pop the hood and hear it too. Otherwise I cant hear it usually.
