Ideas for 3.0L electric fan conversion

Hey all - I've been reading up a lot about doing the electric fan conversion for my 02 3.0L and came across this on eBay https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F362244798564
I know some of you have been using either Mustang or Taurus fans or we're recommending a Chryler Town and Country or Dodge Caravan fan assembly. I was wondering if anyone has tried something like this from eBay. Thinking I could fab it into place pretty easily and then just run switched power to a temp switch installed in a coolant hose or from one of the factory temp sensors. Any thoughts on this?

Should be fine to use

Big thing is the custom shroud, it must fit reasonable tight around the radiator or fan will pull air from the sides and not thru the radiator

Fan is only used when stopped or driving slowly, so it MUST pulled air thru the radiator to getting any cooling.

When driving air is forced thru radiator and fan should be off and free spining.

If installing temp sensor on Radiator hose make sure is will be IN the coolant all the time.
So mount it sideways in case air should get into the hose

Is there an adapter that you guys like to use or have any of you tapped into a stock CTP sensor location for your trigger for the fan?

I bought a universal aluminum fan shroud from Jeg's and a Zirgo 16" 3000 cfm fan. I ran it on my blown 4.0 with no issues.

Like this shroud. Just big enough to cover the whole core.
JEGS Performance Products 52064: Aluminum Fan Shroud 22-7/8" W x 17-1/2" H x 1/2" Deep | JEGS

Don't know how this one is as cheap as they're selling it.

What were you using for your controller for the fan? Hardwired to a switch, or running off a temperature sensor? Has anyone used the Hayden fan controller?

No, you don't use/tap into a stock temp sender/sensor.

And no, you don't want to use a switch on the dash unless it is as a temporary cut-off switch for high water crossings.
You can forget a switch and blow a head gasket from overheating, only takes one time.

Read reviews on any Controllers, hard to tell from just one user, so the more reviews the better.

You can use upper or lower rad hose for the temp sensor, as long as controller/temp is adjustable.

Lower hose would use 185degF, upper hose 200degF

Correct engine thermostat for Ranger is 190degF-195degF, so it doesn't need fan at 190degF or 195degF, on upper hose reading, fan is there to cool radiator when it is OVER heating, i.e. above 195degF
Any radiator provides about 15degF of cooling without much air flow, 20-25degF cooling with air flow, so lower hose at 185degF would mean upper hose is at about 200degF

So I should probably tap into the lower hose and set it at 195-200 right?

Lower hose would be 180-185degF trigger temp
Upper hose would be at 200degF at that time

I use this controller and put the probe in the core near the return hose. It's been very reliable and consistent for me.

There are better controllers than the Hayden fan controller. I had a duel fan system on a 99 F150 I replaced both the Hayden fan controllers after about 4 months and got almost a year on one of the replacements. I switched over to derale.

Well I got the ranger fan from LKQ today. Looks like it'll be a good size. It's from a ranger or so the ad says. Has FoMoCo lettering all over it. Did the 2.3L rangers come with e-fans? Now I just need to pick a controller, mount the fan and wire it up.
