i have a 96 ford ranger looking to put a intake system on it but cant find and want to know if a intake for a 1998-2001 ranger work and i have a 3.0 thanks

i want to put a aftermarket one on like a k and n kit i find one but it for a 98-01 rangers

 

The K & N kit wont bolt straight on because 98+ rangers had a tricky little device called a mass air sensor. you could probably make a 98-01 kit work but it would take some southern engineering.

 

its super easy to just make one.
you can do it with PVC pipe from any hardware store that carries it.
just add on a rubber elbow joint that you can buy from advanced auto and buy a K&N cone filter.
or go to any shop that does custom exhaust welding, their throw away pieces are usually long enough for a short pipe intake.
it may not look as pretty as a ready made kit, but it will accomplish the same goal :)

take a picture of your engine bay and post it up (getting a good angle on the stock intake and the IM)
below is an early picture of the intake on my 3.0, it is now chambered from the rest of the engine with air coming into the chamber from right behind the head light. (nothing blocking it anymore as I removed all that junk...)
