Intermittent trouble starting 2.9l

Hi all,

Trying to figure out a head scratcher. 88 Ranger, 4x4, 2.9l. Had the truck about a year..

Truck was running fine. Went to run couple errands then after driving to my last stop, turn off, wouldnt restart. Had been raining alot, thought something hot wet, let sit. Still wouldnt start...
Next day started for no obvious reason.

Now, will run for a while, turn off, then not restart? Fuel pressure is good. Compression is good. Has spark. Fuel injector pulse was good...finally took it to my regular mechanic and he cant figure it out.

Wondering if someone knows of a possible vacuum issue hidden somewhere? Im a backyard mechanic at best but my basic logic tells me I have fuel, I have fire...do I have air?

Truck cranks fine when it doesnt start...my hunch is maybe a vacuum leak near distributor?...Any thought from the forum appreciated. Thanks!

I had the same problem. After a new fuel pump, regulator, injectors, and filter I took it somewhere. It was the fuel relay switch. Super cheap fix.

Thank you for the reply...my issue turned out to be a loose ground in the ignition...always the last thing you think...
