Knocking
Knocking
I have a 2000 ranger 4x4 5speed manual trans. There is a knocking sound coming from my engine and i can't seem to find the problem. My CEL isn't on. When i drive it seems to be find and the knocking goes away but when i am at the light or just idle comes back. I was thinking the plugs & wires might need to be changed. I bought this car from a ford dealership used about 7 months ago and i dont know if they changed the plugs out when the person whoever it was traded it in. I hae 61K on the truck and when i bought it had 54k.
Yea i didn't get a warranty with it. I think i am going to go get some new plugs because it sounds like it might be miss firiing. But i dont know that much about engines so i think i am wrong.
Is it a douple knock? example (knock-knock....knock-knock...) or a single (knock...knock... knock...)
single knock is the main bearings on the crankshaft, one knock per rotation, douple knock is the main bearings on the pistons, one knock at the top of the cylender, and one know at the bottom. or it could be both. if you have warrenty id bring it to them, its a big job.
