let your feelings be known

say what you want about the 3.0l engine, but my truck has been basically trouble free for over 5 yrs/50,000+ miles.
just took a short drive (havent been driving it much due to gas prices) and all I can say is
"I love my truck !"

not sure why random times like this will make me feel like its a "new" truck, but that is kind of how I feel. I havent made any changes to it, I just felt great, and very proud to be the one behind the wheel of my ranger

of course, the fact that a lot of people mistake me for a doesnt hurt either... its sort of fun to see peoples reactions when they see me coming up behind them (Ive even had people pull over to the side to let me by)

all the time. day or night Ive had people pull over to let me by (and I mean pull over, not just change lanes)
on the flipside, Ive also had people see me behind them and all of a sudden slow down... which sucks badly if Im trying to get around them :D

I loved my ranger.. i would want to get rid of it.. then I would go out and rip some **** up and renew my love..

I wanted a jeep, and a toyota.. but chances are I'll get and build another Ranger when i can afford to get back into wheelin.

I never had anyone mistake me as a cop.. I did have people move over because there was some huge *** truck behind them haha.. Don't get me wrong, I HATE HATE HATE being tail gated, BUT if someone's being stupid or goin obnoxiously slow I'll get up on their ***.

heh at some of the comments
my truck is posted in the introduce yourself forum, no mods other than a slightly dropped front end. :)

I cant explain it, I personally do not think it looks like a cruiser, but honestly it happens. I'll try and get a vid of it some day. perhaps they think Im some kind of undercover or DEA ? (DEA is big around here in unmarked cars/trucks)

and for the record, I dont tailgate as usually I have my 3 yr old with me, and the poeple who slow down usually do so before I get super close to them (like 1/8 mile away still) but it is evident they slow down, since you can see them passing a car at a decent clip, then all of a sudden they are no longer passing the car but pacing it, then when I can finally get around them they get behind me. usually the car they start pacing is going under the spd limit already, which is why Im trying to pass them anyway.
I would think it just coincidence if it didnt happen on a daily basis to lesser or greater extremes.

that said, yes, I do indeed love my truck, it just feels great driving it.

Dont get yourself shot because you look so much like a police officer.

You should post a few pics of this said "police Ranger". I know my truck has never been pointed out as a police vehicle. LOL

As for the purpose of this thread, I'll agree with the 3.0L being reliable. I have over 243,000 kms (151,000 miles) on it, and so far I've only done routine oil changes every 5K km's, replaced the plugs, wires, and coil pack. I do like my 3.0L.........but it's a slow dogg.

this is the best I can do as its night here, but Ill see if I can get a good shot of the front (what you would see in your rear view)
I'll pull my car in front of it and snap a pic through the mirror and see if that shows anything.
but as I mentioned, I really dont think it resembles a police cruiser either, but apparently many people do. (maybe they have susp licenses and are being overly cautious ?)

LMFAO!

the rental i am driving right now, is a 2009 dodge dakota stx crew cab, it is the exact same style and colour of dakota the police have around here as unmarked vehicles... and when driving to work, in my uniform, people don't think i am a cop, i have people blow past me at like 100mph all the time

i can't say i've ever felt the need to upgrade, i like my truck and it does(almost) everything i tell it too. lol.

lately i keep getting flashed when i have my lows on, but they will be far away and see that i turn my hi's off. so it doesn't make sense to me.

well i loved my ranger when i got it. Had 11 miles on it.

now im at 75,254 miles, and it has a flashing CEL, wont half run, had to replace the brakes twice and is currently having to have new cylinder heads installed due to a F'ed up exhaust valve in my heads....

So to say that i'm not happy w/ my purchase would be an understatement. Worst 18k ive ever spent.
