MAS specs?

Evening: I wonder if anyone has any info on a ohm meter method of checking a MAS unit.
basically how to tell a good one from bad when removing it from a non running truck, or to tell that the orginal is bad? Its a4 wire connection, red/black/tan/blue[ish], red and black having 12volts on them, but what should the value be on the return signal wires?
Can a resistor be substitued to indicate a good value to the computor to eliminate a problem for a set RPM?
I don't have a code reader in hand, but it shows a P102 code when tested, MAS was cleaned and no difference in engine operation.
The truck is a 97 with 3.0 engine/auto, it stumbles when the throttle is just opened up, and once it reaches.... approx 1000/1200 rpm it revs up and smooths out. if driving it the same stumbling when starting[ stumbles/surges/stumbles] but won't stall, wants to go and once it reaches the magic number ,away it goes[ for a 3.0 that is].
Most noticable when cold and at times when hot, only a very short cold down time, still quite warm, and it starts to be noticed again.
Changed fuel filter already, and plugs, no sparks seen at night along the wires, the heads were done during a re-build about 30,000km ago
tks
