misfire that comes and goes
misfire that comes and goes
started up my truck (its a 3.0) today and it randomly began to shake a little, have rough idle and began to drive rough. shortly after the CEL shined. I checked it out and it was a Cyl 5 misfire. I took a look under the hood and assumed it was my spark plug wires being on the intake manifold had something to do with it. The rough idle comes and goes. itll smooth out for a little bit and then start shaking again. so not sure what it is. i did some research, read some scary stories so im just wondering what you guys think. im going to take it apart tomoro, check the resistance in the injector and try to reroute my spark plug wires.
any thoughts or input would be great...thanks guys

Maybe if i had a second car like idk a toyota camry thats been jn the family that i could drive while i do the swap i would. But all i got is that big *** f150 that when i drive it everyone calls me a hick lol
Seems like your checking the basics which is good. I'm also having similar symptoms but I changed my crank position sensor and cleared the code. If it comes back on I'm gonna get the code pulled. I'm also gonna replace my Cam Synchronizer and Cam Position Sensor. Its recommended to be changed every 75,000 miles which I just learned. Search the Cam Synchronizer and see if the symptoms match to what your experiencing. Engine failure will result from a faulty synchronizer. Good luck and I'll let you know if I have any luck myself.
yeah even if its not the exact problem you should change it lol. One guy was saying he wouldn't let it go past 50,000 miles. I'm on 135,000 with my 06 and I'm just now changing it. I didn't even know it was a problem until looking around this weekend.
i took everything apart, needed new spark plug wires (old ones all broke during removal) got motorcraft ones, closed the gap back to factory, new rocker arms and now its running worse then before. loss of power, shaking, and popping sound you can hear in the exhaust. no codes, not a clue whats going on. ive checked the wire order over and over and i know i got those right.
Check your coil pack. I could be wrong but by the way you explained it sounds just like mine when my coil pack went down. It would only do it every now an then until one cylinder completely quit firing an ran like crap lol.
I hooked it up to iDS at work. Injector 5 wasnt recieving a signal. The connector had a bad connection. Replaced that and the injector and its good to go!
thanks for all your guys help
