My 3.0 running too cold
My 3.0 running too cold
Hello.
Once again I am coming to the Collective for advice.
Based on all my research, my 2000 3.o operating temperature should be somewhere around 195. But the temperature evens out at 185 at the warmest.
I thought it was an improper thermostat, so I ordered and put in a 192. But the old one I pulled out was a 195.
Coolant levels are full. And just recently changed out the cylinder head on the driver side.
What else would cause the motor to run so cool? I tried asking in a Facebook group, but got smartass answers.....

185degF is about right for ECT sensor temp(OBD2), so not too cold
Just under 1/2 on dash temp gauge
190-195degF thermostat will set that 185degF temp
190-195degF temp will show up under steady load, 205-210degF is about 1/2 on Ford temp gauges
Engine coolant temp can go up to 215-220degF when pulling a trailer up a long grade, that's OK as well
