I have a 3.0 2001 Ford Ranger 2wd automatic transmission. It has about 98,000 miles on it, I received it with about 85,000 miles. I’ve had it for about 2 years now, but in the past year or so of driving it there has been an extremely loud squeal that has come from somewhere in the truck when I am driving sometimes.
i have gone through 3 different brands of camshaft synchronizers, none of them helped, I have a motor craft one in there now.
i took the belt off and spun everything, the only thing that was making any sort of squeaking noise on the belt was the alternator. So I replaced that and it didn’t help.
it doesn’t make the noise when I rev the truck in park or neutral it only happens when I am driving.
When it makes the noise it is usually above 3,000 rpm. When the noise happens the truck seems to bog down and not want to shift gears unless I give it a lot of gas. when it shift gears, the noise goes away, until it has to shift gears again. i am just looking for any input on what it could possibly be or if anyone else has had this problem. I was so sure it was the alternator because of the noise it made when I took the belt off and spun it, unfortunately it did not fix it so I am making this post for help.

 

What condition is the serpentine belt...other than that could it be the joints in the prop shaft

 

I got a brand new continental belt in there and replaced the u joins in the driveshaft 2 months ago

 

So its above 3k when the noise starts/bogs down..... belt tensioner sticking....fan clutch locking up
