Need help with headers
Need help with headers
Alright so i am finally putting my headers on after 3 months and the drivers side is giving me trouble.
I have the header on and the bottom bolt in the middle is pretty much impossible to get on. Anyone have this problem? What'd you do?
Also the bolt that holds the dipstick in place on the top left won't go on. The bolt that comes off the block isn't long enough.
I said screw it and started it up but it's leaking
So i need some help please
If not soon i will have to drive a Hyundai to school tomorrow

If the hole on the header is real close to the hole on the head you can try reaming or drilling the hole out to fit. If the bolt hole on the header is slightly low from the bolt hole in the head you can try placing a jack under the truck and use either a piece of wood or pipe and jack up on the header a little bit to get the bolt started. You can also try installing studs if you have the room and try wiggle and prying it into place or remove all the bolts and install them in different order until you can push or pry into place the last bolt.
The drivers side middle bottom bolt is difficult to get at.When I did mine I took that center bolt and put it through the header first and put a strip of tape on it to secure it.
Then I lowered the header down into position and very loosely hung it with the two upper outer bolts.
Then I went back under the truck and pulled the tape off gently and started the center bolt. You just have to find that right position so you can get to it.
Then it's back up top to start the rest of them.I used a wrench to tighten the bottom center bolt 1/4 turn at a time
You should have had all your bolts started before You even thought about tightening the any of them.
Hope this helps and good luck.

Thank you very much guys. I got it on but it is leaking so i have to take it off. I got the bottom center one on but i am worried about the top left one where the dipstick holds into place
any update? is it still leaking, or? I know when I had the transmission swapped in my rig, after 500-1000 miles I had to re-tighten the downpipe from the headers... all that heat and engine vibration will loosen up the bolts, no matter how tight you already got them.
