new truck

i just wanted to say hello to everyone im new to the sight and the ranger world.
im 17 and my dad and me have been looking for a nice truck for me and we stumbled onto a 2000 ford ranger 3.0 v6 4x4 with the 2 fold down seats in the back. where going into pick it up tomorrow it seems to run great no problems a few minor scratches and has 60,000 miles on it for $8,000.
i just was wondering if you guys might have a few suggestions on some cheap throw on's or mod's to give it a little extra look. money is pretty tight because i spent almost all on the truck but i wouldnt mind throwing $200-$400 into mods but nothing major. the truck has brand new tires on it and im not sure what size they are but they are about as big as you could go without getting it lifted i would say. i probally wont be doing much off roading with it just a few small trials every once in a blue moon.

thanks a lot guys! and its good to be on the forums

Actually a Tonneau cover doesn't really improve gas mileage. Theory has been proven on Myth Busters, actually a net tailgate would improve it. I was a bit surprised by it myself.

The best thing you could buy according to them is a tailgate net but tonneaus came out last for mpg.

And welcome, since your 4x4 with that 3.0 I would buy some engine mods like intake and exhaust.

If you look on the muffler it may say what type it is but if you put a sound clip up for us we could probably tell you.

I sold the cap about a month ago and put on a hard, folding tonneau. I can see now!! Plus the tonneau weighs a ton less than the cap did, so mileage has improved. I really like the two tone paint. Don't see too many out there with it.

I should probably take new pics and change my avatar.

that was with the tailgate either up or down, had absolutly nothing to do with a tonneau cover. (btw, better gas mileage with tailgate up)

the myth busters show focused on highway driving with the tailgate open or closed. the toneau would improve milage. the net however would not because with out the tailgate the wind does not creat different pressures so the air auses drag(with no tailgate)
