Tuner opinions?

Since their is 3 pay periods for me in December, I will have a free check. After buying presents I should have enough to buy or at least save up for a Bama tuner. I have searched and read that the tuner is great, but am undecisive if i should blow $400 on one. All I have on my truck currently is exhaust. Should I wait for an intake, pullies, e-fan, etc. before I do this mod?

Do you have an automatic tranny?

Do you have larger than stock tires?

Do you want better MPG?

Are you ok to run premium gas from here on out?

If the answer is yes to 3 of the questions, Go for it.

You can tune it for whatever octane you want. Higher gains will come from higher octanes. It's part of the decision making process.

I only answered two out of the four questions, so I guess I'll wait. I'm automatic and want better gas mileage, but don't want to pay for premium gas as of now. Also, my truck is still new so my tires will stay at stock size for a while. Thanks for the help.

It's your call Kyle. If MPG is the goal over performance that may change things. Let me expand on my thoughts

Tranny- Automatic gives firmer shifts so thats an extra advantage over a manual.

Tires- you can recalibrate the odometer if you changed the tires. Another benefit.

Premium gas- this is more for Performance option. Your not gonna get as much HP from a reg gas tune because the factory already tuned for that. If your not willing to make the step to premium your probably negating a lot of the benefits from having it.

Thanks, if I did get a tuner it would be primarily for performance which is why I will most likely wait it out for a while before I get it. I can't afford to be filling up on premium every other week right now. Eventually I know I will get it, but right now I'm leaning towards waiting a while. Thanks again Wayne for the help.
