o2 Sensor problems.

So the other day my truck threw up a check engine light. ive had work the past few days and was just able to get it pulled. 2 codes

o2 sensor heater circuit malfunction (bank 1 sensor 1)

lack of Ho2s1 switches - lean (bank 1 sensor 1)

my truck has been idling rough, getting atrocious gas mileage. Ive never really had to deal with the o2 stuff, so dont know my way around it. What am i looking at. I would definitely like to try cleaning before replacing if that is an option. help

Thanks

Lee

This is a easy but expensive fix. Those o2 sensors cost a pretty penny, but swap them out and you will see one hell of a difference.

bah, yeah 80 bucks. im assuming its the upstream filter because my truck is running like crap. im taking a wild guess that bank 1 is the passenger side

First try unplugging the sensor, check the plug for corrosion, and reconnecting.
Also check the wires from the plug back up to the engine bay for any chaffing or burn spots if they ran too close to the exaust pipes.

i pulled both of the upstream sensors. the drivers side was a *****. the passenger side has a bunch of soot on it and was all black. i replaced that one and went and cleared the codes. seems to be running better.

Bank 1 means the front and Sensor 1 usually means the one closest to the exhaust manifold. I could be wrong though. And I bet you can get an O2 Sensor cheaper than 80 dollars. I usually get all my generic parts from Advance Auto.

What luck I found this thread, having the same problem with my O2 sensor. Though I didn't need to pull any codes at first cuz I've dealt with the symptoms before and knew what it was.

Had the codes pulled to make sure and sure enough it was the O2 sensor. This seems to be a common 3.0 problem of the few there is. Now just getting this thing replaced.... lol
